James H. McClare, M. Eng.(Chem), P. Eng.
Jim McClare is the owner and Principal Consultant for JMC. He is a chemical engineer with over thirty years experience in the processing of natural products. His employers have included Edible Oils Div.,Canada Packers Ltd., Toronto, Canada; Nestle Enterprises Inc., Chesterville, Canada; Farmers’ Co-operative Dairy, Halifax, Canada; and the New Brunswick Research and Productivity Council, Fredericton, Canada; with the latter providing food process engineering services to food, fishery, by-products and nutraceuticals sectors in the region.
Mr. McClare has extensive experience with a variety of processing and packaging technologies used in these fields. Having held Process Engineer, Chief Chemist and Plant Manager positions in both large and small processing facilities, he is in a particularly strong position to understand operating problems and issues facing his industrial clients. He also is current with regulatory issues facing processors, and has assisted clients on numerous matters relating to compliance with sanitary standards and environmental regulations.
Mr. McClare holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the three Maritime Provinces of Canada and the State of Maine in the U.S.A.
